Let it SNOW ! Let it SNOW! Let it SNOW!

When it looks like this outside and the wind is howling at around 40 mph....

Why shouldn't John and KIKI being doing this?????!!!

We finally are getting the snow we have been waiting for all winter! YAY!!!! We are in the 6 to 12 inch range! Can't wait! Of course, you know we are hoping for the highest number! My brother is about to start yelling under his breath (I hope) at me! I always want snow and he never does!!
Right now it is way toooo cold to be out and the drifts need to get some crust on them so we can get out and walk on them!!! The snow is too light to make a snowman! I am sure, though, we can make snow angels!!! We are going to wait until the wind dies down!

Don't forget to go to the give away post and sign up! You have to hit the time button to leave me a comment!!!

My haiku for today is

LOVING SPIRIT
I need to breath air
Love my family, create
My live is happy!

Really to breath, to love our family and do what we love is the best way to have a loving spirit, isn't it?!!!

Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, have a wonderfully happy day filled with lots of love!!!

What day is it........What month is it?!!!!!

I
Looking for the snow!!! We just don't get enough these days!!

Our Easter Village!!! Thank you so much Aunt Barb!

Well, can you believe it is March 4 already? Where did the last half of February go?
At our house it was spent spring cleaning and getting ready for spring and Easter, yes Easter!
Easter will be here so soon this year! I was afraid I wouldn't have the house decorated so I did it already! I think Easter and St. Patrick's Day go well together, don't you?! Anyway, not only were we spring cleaning we had to get sick, wouldn't you know. Yes, John brought it home from work one day. He tried to give it away. I am afraid I was the only taker! You did know the best way to get rid of something was to give it away!!!! Give away....I said give away!!!!
I am going to have a Give Away! My bloggy friend Sharon is a great give away person! She has the absolute best give aways! Granted mine won't be as great as hers , but I am going to give it my best shot! It will have something fun, something green, and something that Sharon absolutely loves!!! Why something Sharon loves, well because there is a give away thing going on to honor Sharon called Sharon the love! I will post the picture and the details tomorrow! I promise!

Now that we are on the mend! Thank Goodness the girls didn't get sick. John and I didn't even have the same thing. Go figure! I am back to my challenges. An update on my very first attempt at quilting. I thought no matter what, I would love it. Well, I don't know what happened, I suspect a lot of things. Anyway, I don't love it or like it. Lilli does, however, and she wants me to try again! I will try, but I don't know when.
We tried needle felting for the very first time last week and lets just say we love it! Yes, it is great! Lilli loves it! She loves making the buttons! I am hoping everyone gets something needle felted for Easter!!!! Maybe an egg!

Best wishes go out to my BFF, Deanna, I hope you have the quickest of recoveries!
I know you will! As Kacey says, YOU ARE TOUGH!!!! Deanna, I wanted to put one of our fun pictures on here, but the last one I could find that I had was the one with us at the craft show, when John played Santa!!!LOL!!! You are so much better at remembering to take pictures than I am! Darn it!!!

My haiku for today....

BEING YOURSELF
Helpful to others
Smiling inside and outside
Happy heart always

Of all things that Lilli learns from me in her life, I hope it is being yourself always!

Have a wonderfully warm and cozy day!!!

What a life!

Wouldn't this be the life! Eat and sleep! Wait! That's what I have been doing toooo
much of! I stay up tooo late and get up toooo late! It ruins my whole day! I kid you not!
I am the biggest grouch when I don't get up until 9:00 or is that 9:30? I need all the caffeine in the world to even function! After all that caffeine, I can't go to sleep! Do you see where I am going with this? Anyway, I had to run errands and such today so I haven't got my quilt top done yet! I am hoping for tomorrow!

Okay, here is my haiku for today!

SUCCESS
Trying something new
Not coming out exactly
Loving it anyway

That is what I am going to say about my quilt as soon as it is finished!
I hope!

Have a wonderful evening and a cozy night!

WARNING!!!

The footstool!

WARNING!! Just to let you know you should always turn on a light in every room upon entering!!! Or you should make sure the pathway is clear! I came over to the computer room last night and didn't turn a light on and look what was in my way! OUCH!! Dang it and what ever else I could think of came out of my mouth! Tears were flowing! I made my way back to the house! My knee was swollen and bruised. Lilli got me an ice bag and an aspirin! Honestly, I couldn't live without her! God must have seen me growing old and decided I would need some help!!! Thank you, God! I am not ever this clumsy. I just wasn't paying attention, I guess! Anyway, I am so sore today! I have had two aspirin today, an ice bag on my left knee, and slept most of the day! Two aspirin and I can sleep for hours. Tomorrow I am hoping not to be as sore so I can at least sew on my quilt! I didn't yesterday because I had to shop for us and the neighbors because the weather forecast was horrible. The 4-8 inches of snow sounded wonderful but not the 1/2 inch of ice. As it turned out, we didn't get even an inch of snow and just very little ice! We were disappointed with no snow but at least we didn't get the ice!

My haiku doesn't have anything to do with my post today but here goes!

EARTHLY SOUL
Long hot summer days
Plants popping through the brown dirt
Waiting for the fruit

We haven't had a garden for a couple years but we are going to this summer! I can't wait! I love to work in the garden!!! So does Lilli!

Have a snuggle buggle night!!!!

See What I can Do!!!!

This is what Lilli did with just fabric! No glue or needle and thread!

And this!

Lilli wants to go to Harvard Law School, she wants to be a vet, she wants to be an artist,
and I say she could design clothes! Well, all I can say is the potential is there for her to be anything she wants to be! She can be more than one thing! Right?!!!

With that my word today is potential!

POTENTIAL
Dancing in circles
The wind blowing through my hair
Hopes for tomorrow

I think we all have the potential to do anything we want and be anything we want!
Everyday we wake up we have the potential to do and be what we want! Even if it is just for a day!

Have a Happy Day!

My very first "Quilt" I hope!

Just getting the stuff together was a huge step for me!

See! I even took two pictures with the cutter still in its' package!
Lilli standing over me-you can do this Mom!!! The soft little push I needed!

And finally! I actually managed to get the squares cut!!!

I did it! I have my squares all cut and now I am ready to sew! I wanted to work on this so bad
yesterday but had to go out of town. Dang it! Well, you gotta do what you gotta do! I am really going to work hard on this today!!!
I just can't wait to get the top finished!

So with this I chose the word courage for my haiku!

COURAGE
Walking the gang plank
Softly pushed by someone
Soaring, achieving

All I needed was Lilli's encouragement! Thank you Lilli!

I hope you have a great day!

The View from my Window!!!

The view from my kitchen window!!

We have lived in this house almost 10 years! Until yesterday I hadn't realized that I have a wonderful view from the kitchen window. The way the kitchen is made there is no really good way to appreciate it, unless you bring a chair into the middle of the floor and just sit there and look out! Right then and there I decided that was what I was going to do! I don't care if I have to walk around it all the time. So I fixed me a cup of coffee and pistachio white chocolate chip cookies (from Pepperidge Farm) and just watched out my window! As you can see it was not a rainy Monday, like the weatherman said it would be. He is, however, saying we are going to have a rainy Tuesday!!!! Whatever!

My brain was in haiku mode yesterday so I have them all done through Friday. Lilli has approved them!!!lol!

INNER PEACE
A calmness within
Comfort from warm fuzzy socks
A big smiling heart

This one was really hard for me to do! To have complete inner peace, I think your body and soul have to be as one all the time! Maybe it is me but sometimes I can't be that way all the time! I guess that's why when I put on a big ol' pair of warm fuzzy socks, I feel comfortable and settled!!! Aren't you comfortable and settled, when you have inner peace?!!

I hope you have a wonderful cozy day!!!
Vickie

PS--I said yesterday that I was going to start a small quilt and I did! I am taking pictures and will post later about it! I will say, the cutting wasn't as bad as I thought it would be!!!! In fact, I had fun!!! I didn't even cut my finger off!!! Everyone panics when I use sharp things!! I have a Rachel Ray knife! Wow! I have had it 2 years used it 3 times and have really cut myself every time. I need a book on how to use the darn thing! I am sure I heard Martha mention one the other day! I will have to look it up!!!

Monday Mornings!!!

Lilli with her new book Arctic Tale!
John in his flannel scarf that Lilli made him!
Gayle in her penguin pajamas!!!

Well, it is early Monday morning here! I am trying really hard to get over here first thing and get my blogging down! I have to bring my caffeine with me, though!!!

We are supposed to get rain today! Rain and Mondays! I think they go together, don't they?!
Throw in some baking and maybe a fresh pot of soup! What more could you ask for!!!!

After we finish school today, we are going to start cutting the fabric for my quilt project! I will take pictures! I have had a cutter for a long time! In fact, it is still in the package! I hope it is not dull!! I have a mat! In fact, two mats! My mom gave me hers! I am hoping for the best! Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Here is my haiku for today! Wow! This is hard!

RELEASE
Letting me go free
Living is everything
No rules for my life

I love it! This is exactly the way I feel! You know when you have a handicapped child everything is so much by the rules! I have figured out that there has to be some part of life that is not always ruled!!! What a break through!!! YAY!!!!

Have a carefree day!

I was Lost but now I am Found!!!! (isn't that a song?)lol

This is one of my favorite pictures from Christmas!!!

I know what you are thinking.....is Vickie ever going to post anything else? I am! I was lost but now I am found! First I want to say that I have really missed blogging. To think I was blogging almost everyday and now it has been almost a month! I love to blog! I don't care if nobody ever reads it but me! I love it! I am really going to try harder!
It has been so long that I don't even know where to start! First and foremost, I want to wish everyone a belated HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!! I really hope that everyone has a wonderfully blessed new year!!!!
January is one of my least favorite months of the year. It is a new beginning I know. New beginnings mean change. I am not good with change. This year I told myself I was going to be better about January. I really had every intention to do better! I didn't even make a list of resolutions. Not even a mental one! That was something different. Something that I haven't done in the past. So okay, that was a start! Well, I don't know what happened but I just didn't have the gusto. I mean I was like in hibernation. Lilli and I had caught school up so we didn't have to start back until January 7. We fell into a pattern! I would get up at 5:30 with John then read, get sleepy, then go back to bed and get up at 9:00. What kind of schedule is that?! I ask anybody. Well, it has taken me forever to get back on the right track. I am there, though and ready to take on life once again! YAY! RAH! YAY! Thank you my wonderful family!!!
I did get caught up on my shopping! Nothing beats online shopping!LOL!!! I have also made lots of challenges for myself!
1. To read a lot!
One book I have read is a book that my Aunt Barb gave me when she did some destashing some time back. POETRY & PATCHWORK!!! by Gyleen X. Fitzgerald & James W. Pryde, Jr.! Gyleen is an award winning quilter! There is a quilt that goes with every haiku!
It is a very unique book! The authors made a challenge to each other to take a word like HOPE and write haiku for it! Well luckily Lilli and I had already studied about haiku! I fell in love with it from the very beginning! Because you don't have to make haiku rhyme I could actually do it! The lines should relate! They should have 17 syllables. 5 7 5! So now I am going to go through the book and write my haiku for every word that they did!!! Haiku is a ton of fun! You might want to take the same challenge! If you do, please share!!!
2. Learn how to quilt!! I have been reading Sharon's blog!
If you haven't ever read it, you should! It is the best one that I read! Well, she is so enthusiastic about life in general that it is contagious! She has so much fun! Thanks Sharon for adding me to your list of blogs! I feel very honored!!! So I have been reading all about quilting, buying way tooo much fabric, and I think I am really ready!!!! My biggest fear is cutting all of that fabric! I am starting with one that actually says good for beginners!!! That would be me!!!
3. To lose weight and get into great shape!!! I know I carry Gayle around, but I need to sweat everyday!!! I once heard someone on TV say, if you eat you have to exercise! I used to be so good at that! 100 push ups a day! Not anymore! Could be my age! I am going to have at it!
4. To get organized and stay that way!!!LOL!!! having doubts about this one already!!!
5. To blog at least 3 times a week!
This is just 5 out of a ton more! I know it is a lot! Like someone once said, life is too short! There is just tooo much I want to do and tooo much I want to learn! I best get to it! Don't ya think?!
I have also been taking tons of pictures! More than can ever fit on this blog, but I am going to share some of my absolute favorites!!!
I have also been doing some swaps on swap-bot! How fun is that?!!! I love it! I learned how to make a Dotee doll! I am now addicted! When I get some more made I will take pictures!
Well, now that I have spilled my guts I am going to give haiku a shot!
COCOON
Quiet in darkness
Hiding like bears in winter
Waiting for happy

Okay! I am sure you can guess why I picked COCOON! I feel like I have been in one for a month!!!!! Wait until you read tomorrows'!!!!!

I hope you have a wonderful evening and a great tomorrow!
Tons of love,
Vickie
PS--I had to change my last line! I had Waiting for happy times. When Lilli proofed it she reminded me that happy was a two syllable word! What would I do without her!!! I think I have it now!!!
